World Sailing, the world governing body for sailing, is pleased to announce the appointment of race directors for the 2024 Paris Olympic Sailing Competition.

The 59 international technical officials from 33 nations hold various key positions, including technical delegates, the race management team, the international jury, the technical committee, the event disciplinary investigator and the chief medical officer.

The announcement emphasizes gender balance in the key positions of technical delegates and boss/vice boss:

World Sailing’s Head of Sustainability and two-time Paralympian Alexandra Rickham and Brazilian Ricardo Navarro were appointed as technical delegates.
The International Jury will be chaired by Ana Sanchez Del Campo from Spain, while Andrus Poksi from Estonia will act as deputy chair.
Pinar Coskuner Genç from Turkey will be the main race director (PRO), supported by Australian David Brookes as deputy PRO.
Belgium’s Jürgen Cluytmans will chair the Technical Committee, while Spain’s Pilar Lopez will serve as vice-chair.
Ricardo Navarro of Brazil and Alexandra Rickham of World Sailing will lead the international race team as technical delegates to ensure fair competition and a level playing field for the 330 athletes taking part in the ten Olympic events.

The 26-member international jury, led by Ana Sanchez Del Campo and Andrus Poksi, ensures the proper application of sailing racing rules for fair competition.

Pinar Coskuner Genç from Turkey and Australian David Brookes will lead the race management team and ensure the execution of the races for each of the Olympic events. They are supported by nine other international race directors.

The Technical Committee, led by Jürgen Cluytmans and Pilar Lopez, consists of nine international surveyors who ensure that each boat complies with the rules.

Additionally, David Tillett from Australia has been appointed Event Disciplinary Investigating Officer (EDIO) to investigate complaints of misconduct, while Nebojsa Nikolic from Croatia will be Chief Medical Officer responsible for athlete wellbeing.

Four digital race officials have been appointed to use technology and drone footage to support race management and the international jury in making decisions.

The Olympic sailing competition will take place from July 28th to August 9th, with officials arriving from July 20th and equipment inspection beginning on July 20th.
